Frequently Asked Questions
How can I use Crib Sheets?

Crib Sheets may be downloaded and printed for clients or for personal use. They can also be copied and exchanged. They may not be altered without express written permission from the University of Washington. The content of Crib Sheets is based on the current literature and the clinical judgment of Kathryn Barnard, Rebecca Kang and Lana Conrad. They have been edited for a 5th grade reading level and for public interest. It is expected that they would be used to begin a conversation about a particular topic with the health or human services provider.

How were the interventions in Clinican's Corner developed?

The interventions on the Stepping Up website are based on proven research findings from the literature or from nurse scientists at the University of Washington School of Nursing. They are intended as guides and should be adapted to the clinician's experience and the population served. Results are not guaranteed. They should be considered as a beginning framework.

How can I find out more information?

Additional information may be obtained by sending an inquiry to the Discussion Board or by exploring topics in Research Reviews on this website. You may also want to do your own research.

To access materials on-line through PubMed, which is available for free to anyone on the Internet, go to PubMed: http://www.pubmed.gov.

For instructions on how to search PubMed, go to the UW healthlinks website at: http://healthlinks.washington.edu/howto/pubmed/
This website also offers short instructional videos about PubMed.

Please note that, although the UW version of PubMed will have links to online journals, individuals not affiliated with the UW (faculty, staff, students) will not be able to access the fulltext journal links. CINAHL is also a UW restricted database.

There is also a wealth of information available at other sites on the Web. However, it is important to determine both the type of site you are visiting, and the quality of information it contains. For tips on how to do this, go to http://healthlinks.washington.edu/howto/navigating/
