The International Society for Infant Studies (ISIS) and the Japan Society for Baby Science (JSBS) are offering grants to 30 (and, if possible, more) outstanding Early Career Researchers in all areas bearing on infant development, including nursing, pediatrics, child psychiatry, engineering, neuroscience and behavioral science.
The grants cover the costs of travel (up to $1,000) to attend the joint meeting of the two societies in Kyoto, Japan from June 19-23, 2006. The grants are made possible through the generosity of the Aprica Childcare Institute of Osaka, Japan. There will be a preconference on the Shaken Baby Syndrome preceding the joint meeting.
Applicants must be members of ISIS or JSBS, or become members at the time of application. They should submit a first-authored paper or poster for presentation at the meetings, a current CV, a two-page, single-spaced description of their research, and three letters of recommendation. The Call for Papers can be seen at the ISIS website (www.isisweb.org). These materials should be sent to infancy@berkeley.edu, or, within Japan, to iuchiyam@mail.doshisha.ac.jp.
Application deadline is November 1, 2005, the same date as the deadline for submission of papers or posters. Grant awards will be announced in early January.
